Twitter’s Ev Williams & Biz Stone talk about tech troubles
Scoble visited Twitter and talked to Ev & Biz about the tech troubles, but I haven’t heard anything about a Community Manager. Lots of talk about the tech, but…what about the users guys?!
Biz just said “even if you’re frustrated and you know what’s going on, that’s 80% of it”. Yes. Now if all of the main users had that same knowledge rather than just the developers, that would make a huge difference.

This made me feel kind of bad for the twitter guys. They just looked so unhappy. They really DO need a community manager.

A lot of the bad press is not really about the tech but the communication. A community manager would take that load off their back and let them focus on the tech. Actually, I don’t think one community manager is enough, since Twitter is a 24/7/365 international operation. They need more than one person who can respond quickly to problems and outages in a crisis, smooth over the rough edges, communicate clearly what is known about the problem and the solution/process. In addition they need folks who can in routine times help provide instruction and tutorials, highlight creative uses and applications of Twitter, promote the best tools and apps … not to mention metrics, stats, publicity, promotion, all that good stuff.
