Stickam.com a streaming youtube.com?

by Kevin on January 9th, 2007

Social networking site after social networking site continue to be launched. I have covered a lot of them so far and will continue to do so. The question seems to be will there be a “new myspace” which really seems to be the goal of all these companies.

For us we want to be able to get in on the ground floor of a site and stake our claim, so we know where to invest our time and resources in. People that did get in on myspace earlier really did gain from it.

Aside from the dream of being the next myspace.com other companies are looking to be the next youtube.com. That is where stickam.com comes in, but this site has a unique twist to it, it is all about streaming webcasts.

This is where the question of developing media content comes in. A lot of companies don’t think about the idea of developing some sort of multimedia for their company. Even something as simples as a video of how something is produced or your product in use if done in a creative way can create a buzz about your company.

A webcast though brings some new challenges. Do you have something that you can provide on a weekly/daily/streaming basis that will be of interest to people on the web? Some people will be able to use this to their advantage and others won’t.

In looking at stickam the best thing about thing about it is that you can use one of their widgets to embed on numerous other profiles, so you have a single content provider for all of your social networking sites as well as ebay and other sites. It will be interesting to see the content that is driven from this site in the next few months.
