Social Networking Site Review: Humble Voice

Site: Humblevoice.com
Members: ??? I haven’t found clear cut numbers on this
Features:
Humble Voice talks about how the site is made for artists by artists, and it is crystal clear that content is king here. The site is truly designed for people to discover your writing, music, photography, or art; which makes this a good place to promote some of your individual work if you fall in this niche. People can browse, find featured artists, and just randomly look at entries for all the different genres. You can also setup a profile under each different type of niche, in fact they encourage you to.
One of the interesting features that you see in a lot of artist based communities on the web is that you get back what you put into it. Humble Voice has a point system that rewards you for participation. Whenever you upload content, message, tag, or pretty much do anything on the site you earn points which can later be redeemed for merchandise or offers.
The site offers a very unique design feature that seems to be Ajax based, so if your web connection is slow it is very frustrating to use. You can drag and drop most of your profile parts just like tagworld, almost like they are wigetized.
Review:
I like the idea behind the site but I HATE the user interface and the way profile design is setup. Sure you can drag and drop your components in endless combinations but the design process just feels time consuming and clunky. They are correct that this site is designed by artists for artists because it looks good but the functionality is a pain.
Like I said though, this site is good if you want to promote some of your work as an artist, for general marketing it is a pass though.

That’s a great review Kevin and great for artists and musicians. Being a former art student, and a gallery worker, I know how much it means for artists to get their work out and noticed. :) and they no longer have to depend on galleries who take 50% of their profits.. as it is known.. most artists are not technically minded so I guess it makes sense that it’s not up to speed with other interfaces out there.. hopefully that will change. Beautiful design and I love the concept.
