Maybe I can finally ad Pat Robertson as a friend?
In my on going quest to join every social networking website on the planet and write about them, I have found a few new religious themed ones that were talked about in this yahoo! Canada article. As with most niche social networking websites, these sites aren’t going to help your business out unless these markets are either:
1) In your target market
2) You would like to participate in the community and interact with people
None of the four sites are really, well up my alley I guess, but in interest in being a responsible writer, I must give them their just due. Also I wanted to see if my computer or I spontaneously combusted when I signed up for them.
GodTube.com and MyChurch.org, are two Christian entries in the social networking scene. I know you can’t tell by the names the sites they are so cleverly trying to rip off. But the Christians don’t have the market cornered on religious themed rip offs, you have MuslimSpace.com and IslamTube.com.
Here are some quick reviews of these sites:
GodTube.com- Obviously playing of you tube from the page layout to their slogan, “Broadcast Him”. Easy to get around, typical video sharing website, just with a lot of videos not surprisingly with “Jesus” tags.
MyChurch.org- Very clean layout, the main purpose of this site is for blogging, I have to say the layout is simple and well done. I can’t get any real stats with the amount of members on the site. You can also import your blog feed settings from other places, so I placed my comedy blog feed into there, ensuring I will burn in hell for all of eternity.
Muslimspace.com- Feature rich when compared directly to MyChurch, I think it is poorly designed, with it trying to be a myspace.com copy cat but not designed very well. Also I don’t have a total number of users.
IslamTube.com- Same idea as Godtube.com, not designed as well either.
These sites, from a business stand point, could be useful depending on your market, possibly a good way to network around your church or mosque.
