Half Hour Social Networking Marketing Plan: Some traditional tools

by Kevin on September 29th, 2007

We have covered social bookmarking websites, some social networking website tools, and now I want to touch on some traditional yet overlooked ways to promote your work in your half hour plan.

Niche message boards- Message boards or groups ( like on MySpace or Google) are great ways to generate interest in your posts. You can create a thread which includes a link to your post as a discussion starter. From there you can generate hits from active users within the community, passive users that just lurk, as well as coming in searches (if the message board is crawled).

Exposing your feed- There are lots of different sites that allow you to plug your RSS feed into. Facebook, Tagworld, and other social networking sites are good examples of websites where you can load your feed to display on your page. This is something that is often overlooked by people.

Instant Messenger- Most IMs now offer a broadcast feature… Beyond that you can use your away message or your profile to promote your work.

Next week: The plan laid out minute by minute.
