Half Hour Social Networking Marketing Plan: Other Social Bookmarking Sites Part 2
Today I want to look at a few different other social bookmarking websites. There are tons of social bookmarking websites out there, but I want to speak from experience about ones that I have had success with.
Level 2 Social Bookmarking Websites
Netscape- Now going under the name propeller.com the social bookmarking website has started to gain some sort of reputation as a digg killer. Personally I don’t buy into it, but I have had some moderate success with this site with compelling stories. It has been hard for me to get a pulse on what works on here and what doesn’t as I have had equal success with a few different types of posts. I would advise you to try it out and see what your results are.
Tail Rank- I never really got anywhere with tailrank until my site was referred or scrolled. Tailrank will group blogs depending on what topic the blogger is writing about, if they are covering a gaffe in the race for the White House, stories will be grouped under that headline. If you blog about popular news stories and link to their postings on CNN or Yahoo news you can gain some serious momentum from tailrank. If I blog about mainstream news my site will get picked up leading from anywhere from 300 to 3,000 page views in a single day. When I have submitted my own stuff from tailrank or others, they don’t seem to do very well but when the stories are picked up they seem to explode. I think I just confused myself while explaining tailrank.
Reddit- I have a love hate relationship with reddit, I will submit my stuff their regularly and gain some traffic right off the bat. People seem a little more snobby than on digg, which is hard to believe but true in my experience. I would like to say tech and political articles do better on there but I have to say some of my strangest comedy pieces have done pretty well on there. I think it is worth the couple of seconds to submit a story on there.
