Facebook v. ConnectU Transcripts
The Facebook vs ConnectU legal battle has been going on for years. Zuckerberg’s former college classmates are accusing him of stealing their idea, business plan and code. And now, it’s finally starting to wind down.
US District Court Judge James Ware, who barred reporters from the courtroom last month, said Wednesday that he will release a redacted copy of the transcript from that hearing. He’s also going to let a magistrate judge to decide on whether some of other sealed documents should be released. We’re still not sure as to what exactly has been redacted, according to CNET.
We do know that Facebook has agreed to pay ConnectU’s founders cash and stock as part of the terms of the settlement but no one is talking numbers. I’m guessing that’s going to be a big part of what is redacted.
There’s some rumours swirling around that what will be redacted includes more than just the financial arrangements, which is throwing many people up in arms.
Roger Myers, the lawyer representing CNET, who requested the information in the first place, thinks that the redaction [will] "… goes too far…There’s hundreds of documents filed under seal. We think that most of them should not have been seal. There’s some things that (Facebook) can keep confidential, like their source code and trade secrets but they’ve gone way overboard here."
It remains to be seen what will be unsealed, what won’t and how much information the courts deem reasonable to release.
