Candidate’s MySpace Profile Review: Mike Huckabee
Yesterday I looked Rudy Giuliani’s MySpace page and today I move onto Mike Huckabee. Like pretty much ever other candidate besides John Edwards, Huckabee uses the standard MySpace layout. Huckabee wasn’t even on most people’s radars on MySpace until the last few months.

His staff embraces social media a little bit better than Rudy’s team does, he has information for his youtube and facebook pages, although where he lists the pages in his profile they aren’t actual links. Maybe his team needs a basic HTML tutorial? While he does use social media more than Giuliani he still is far behind Obama and Edwards in it’s use. Huckabee’s banners and page is layout pretty well, using the left hand column to deploy some information. There is a good amount of content on the page.
Huckabee’s staff is pretty good about updating his MySpace blog, however they don’t have it sized right and it is really shrunken and aligned to the left, which makes it really hard to read. This was a common error on MySpace a few months back and can be corrected by going into the options page for the blog and choosing a different size. I am a little surprised they haven’t picked up on this yet.
Overall I think he is a step above Clinton and Rudy but not by much. So far the Republican Party is 0-2 in using MySpace to it’s fullest potential.
What do you think about Huckabee’s page?

I am pretty sure that Huckabee’s Myspace page is actually ran by a few volunteers not by his actual staff. The volunteers are in contact with Huckabee as far as I know but I don’t think he actually plays an important role in the Myspace development. Considering it is ran by non-paid volunteers I actually think his page is quite good comparatively.

If it is updated by volunteers than it shows me that his staff doesn’t appreciate the power of social media and that they are missing out on a free way to gain, maintain, inform, and motivate a base.

Now you are just making baseless assumptions. I am sure his staff cares about social media, especially with candidates doing so well online. Just because volunteers rather than paid staffers run the Myspace page doesn’t mean that the page is any worse or that the campaign just doesn’t care.

If they do appreciate it they are doing a really poor job in using it.
